Foreword

Welcome from Paul James,

Leader, Gloucester City Council

Welcome to the 2015 edition of the Gloucester

Business Guide and Directory.

With details on the products and services of over 2,000 companies

trading in Gloucester, this Business Guide and Directory provides

a valuable resource to identify local companies and organisations

with the potential to become new customers, suppliers or partners.

Additionally it provides a showcase for Gloucester businesses and

will be supplied and made available to organisations outside the area

that are seeking to invest in the city.

Gloucester remains an attractive place in which to invest despite the

national economic challenges of recent times which saw the worst

recession in the UK in sixty years. There has nonetheless been over

£700 million of investment in the city’s regeneration, and as further

regeneration in key redevelopment areas including King’s Quarter

and Blackfriars goes ahead, there will be new opportunities to invest.

Meanwhile the Duport Business Confidence report continues to

show record levels of company formations in the city. There is much

indeed to be positive about.

Local partners recognise that business is about more than just

financial investment. Building a sustainable economy requires an

appropriately skilled workforce, which is why partners within

Gloucester are working to enable training opportunities which

meet the needs of both existing local businesses and those of

incoming new businesses.

support the many aspects of business development please refer

The Business Guide and Directory, which is also available online at

www.burrows.co.uk/gloucester

is a practical example of how

Gloucester City Council and its partners can work together to

support businesses in all sectors of Gloucester’s economy.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the organisations

that have supported and contributed to this publication.
