Although we were originally set up over 120 years ago to protect the assets of the church, today we
insure a wide range of buildings and other risks. These range from iconic national treasures such as
the Royal Albert Hall and Blenheim Palace, as well as our very own Gloucester Cathedral, to many of
the nation’s museums and theatres.
We also own an award-winning investment management business, EdenTree, which helped pioneer
ethical and responsible investment in the UK.
We are owned by a charity and all of our profits are returned to it. In 2014, we donated £23.5m back
to our owner to help benefit the church and good causes all around the UK.
With over 650 staff, we are Gloucester’s largest private employer, and play an active part in the
community and in supporting many of the city’s charities and good causes.
